Another disappointing summer month with below average sunshine and at times, cool temperatures.

Overall temperatures were slightly above the LTA, though this was mainly due to an abundance of warm nights.
Rainfall spot on average. Much, much drier than July.
Unusually for August there were no thunderstorms.
A dull month but not as dull as the awful August of 2008.
Soil temperatures were generally normal throughout.
Winds were dominant from the south-east direction showing the impact of daily sea breezes.
Very high cloud cover and no days of unbroken sunshine.
Sea temperatures were at their highest during the 2nd week when there was a brief spell of sunny, summer-like weather.
Mean pressure was just -1.3 hPa below normal.
Dewpoints were quite high at times.
Overall though the RH was slightly below normal..
